Our story
A Life Shaped by the Sea
Boating and fishing have always been more than a profession for the Salvanos family. They are passions and a way of life, supported by a maritime history that can be traced back to the late nineteenth century.
Filippos grew up around boats and began helping his father and uncle aboard the family caique during the 1960s, when he was only five or six years old. These early years gave him an intimate understanding of Corfu’s coastline, weather and sea.
After completing his National Service in 1979, Filippos started his own company with two small motorboats, each fitted with a 3.5 horsepower engine. Filippos Boats became the first boat hire company in Corfu to receive a licence to rent boats.
Today, the business continues to combine decades of practical experience with personal service, helping visitors discover the bays, beaches and waterfront villages of north-east Corfu.

Nicholas has been part of the family business from a very young age, learning every aspect of life at sea alongside his father. After helping grow Filippos Boats and later establishing Avlaki Boats, he continued to expand the family's presence across north-east Corfu. After several years away pursuing a different career, Daniella returned to continue the family tradition, bringing strong organisational skills, a fresh perspective and a passion for exceptional customer service. Together, they continue to build on over four decades of trusted local experience while preserving the warm, family-focused values that have always defined Filippos Boats.

Avlaki Boats & Paddle Boards
Nicholas is based at the far end of Avlaki Beach, where he operates Avlaki Boats & Paddle Boards from one of Corfu's most peaceful bays. With years of experience on the water, he offers visitors a relaxed and personal approach to boat rentals and paddle-board adventures. Whether you're looking for a quiet day exploring hidden coves or your first time behind the wheel of a boat, Nicholas is always happy to share local knowledge, recommend the best routes and ensure every trip is safe, enjoyable and unforgettable.

Katie’s Boats
Katie operates from the heart of Agios Stefanos, continuing the family tradition with a fleet of modern boats and genuinely personal local service. Growing up around the sea and the family business, she understands what makes a memorable day on the water and is dedicated to helping every guest choose the perfect boat for their adventure. From recommending secluded beaches and hidden swimming spots to offering friendly advice before departure, Katie ensures every visitor enjoys a relaxed, safe and unforgettable experience exploring Corfu's beautiful coastline.
